Hawaii Ironman and 5k
Hello from Hawaii at 4 am on Sunday Oct 22, 2006. Well I did it. I
finished the biggest triathlon in the world yesterday in a time of 13
hours and 25 minutes. Over 20 years ago, I sat in front of my television
stoned out of my head watching that race and thinking someday I want to
do that. Yesterday those dreams came true and I was once again reminded
of our slogan “With Sobriety Anything is Possible.”
Thanks to everyone who supported and ecnouraged me out there
yesterday. Your thoughts and prayers got me through that day and
believe me there were times it was very difficult.
Our 5k is just about over right now and I want to thank everyone who
sponsored, volunteered, raced or worked to make our 5th annual Racing
for Recovery 5k a great success.
There are many things happening with this program. I have a firm
producer here from Hollywood discussing a feature film. November 8th I meet
with Disney productios regarding a reality show and there is another
book in the works as well. All of these projects will focus on the
impact Racing for Recovery is making and showcasing success stories.
OK I am beat and have to start packing to get home. The day after I
arrive home it is off to Alabama for some speaking gigs.
Thanks again everyone for your endless support.
