136

Ya know not all times are good times in sobriety and I must say that this time sucks. I know my life has been an open book and I am sure at some point all of this will come out but right now I am keeping this absolute gut wrenching pain I am going through to myself. it is amazing to me that people close to you will constantly screw you over and then just basically say "get over it" I dont operate that way. Now I am not saying I am perfect God knows, I am a not even remotely close to that but I do not deliberately hurt others. If you are struggling with addiction listen up here. This is not and I repeat not and excuse to drinnk. These are thoughts and emotions we go through and a good friend of mine yesterday told me to "do the right thing" make the right choice" of course using is not the answer to our troubles and once again I will overcome and move on it is just going to be a rough go.

Good news out of all this mess? I dropped another 2 pounds and weigh 136 now. Keep the pain coming sunshine I love it.

Mother's Day

Hello everyone and Happy Mother's Day to all of you moms out there. I would like to offer my thoughts and prayers to my friend Eric in Florida whose mom just passed away this week. He actually asked me to write a post about mothers so give credit where credit is due right? Thanks for the advice Eric.

I also want to say my thoughts are with Joanne Floyd who I cant comprehend what she is going through after losing her son Eric. God bless you Joanne and the whole Floyd Family.

I have been in 7 cities and 2 countries during the past 3 days and I am spent. Tonight I am home in my own bed and it is going to be nice. I speak in Fremont, Ohio tomorrow which I can drive to then home for next week for some local speaking stuff. I love this life but ya at times I get tired.

Happy Mothers Day special wishes to my step mom Cindy and my wife Melissa. Cindy (which by the way I hate calling her by her name like that) was awesome for what she had to deal with. I see alot of Melissa in her in how she takes care of our kids and this house. It reminds me of growing up alot. You both are great at what you do.

Again to all the mothers out there thank you for all you do.

Ok that is it for now I am beat and here is a couple pics from St. Croix.

Hello From St. Crooix

Hey everyone,

It is simply beautfiul down here in St. Croix for the Half Ironman this Sunday. I am sitting out on our patio looking out to the ocean and thinking to myself what a great life I have and once again how it all began by simply choosing to stop drinking on April 15, 1993. It has taken over 15 years of CONTINUED sobriety to get to this point but it shows that if you stay true to what you believe in and never waiver from nay-sayers, thoughts of using or tough times that life will bring, you will achieve your hopes and dreams. On a marketing viewpoint, we have over 700 Racing for Recovery promotional pieces going in each competitors race bag. It is all about promotion and gettting our message out.

Yesterday was Melissa's and Konor's (7) birthdays. Happy d day to you both. Konor will will have our party next weekend when we get back. Melissa and I went running here yesterday and both commented on how hot and hilly the course is. For her first half ironman she is taking on one of the toughtest on the circuit but I know she can do it. That girl is tough not only physically but mentally as well.

While we were in Miami for a layover a couple noticed me from a television peace done at Ironman Arizona. They are from Canada and the husband Shannon is doing the race. He commented on how his step dad was really moved by seeing this program Racing for Recovery as he battled alcoholism for years. It was too late for him to turn it around as his body had already given out and he died not to long after seeing the story. It is sad to think that a life could have be saved becuase of this amazing philosophy we have and once again I am determined to keep going to prevent that from happening to someone else. It was great meeting you guys and thanks for your promotion of Racing for Recovery on your blogs.

Kevin Travis, one of our members who moved from New York after seeing the ESPN special and is now living in our Lifetyle Center was recently featured in his hometown newspaper about his recovery and how this program helped him achieve it. This is the type of stuff I love to see and that is the impact that we are having on other peoplel to help them and their families regain what was lost through an addiction. Cant wait to see you and Eddie and the rest of the guys cross the finish line at our half ironman on June 8 and then compete with you all at Ironman Western Australia on Dec 7.

The Racing for Recovery softball team is in full swing and I look forward to a great season of fun with all of members of our program experiencing yet another example of how good living a drug free life can be. Thanks to Jo jo's pizza for sponsoring us.

I get home next Tuesday night at 11.30 then have to leave Wed morning at 7.30 to speak in Boston then back home then off to speak in Fremont, Ohio on Saturday. Love the crazy travel stuff and sharing the Racing for Recovery message.

Here is an update on the Racing for Recovery tv show. Everything has been cleared and we are waiting for one phone call from "the man" to begin filming. I am telling you alll right now that this show is going to save thousands of lives and give people HOPE. The people who have seen the promotional dvd have loved it and that includes all of the TNT people. Thanks to my friend Scott Sturgeon who read my story in the New York Times back in 2006. Without you none of this would be happening. Also thakns to everyone wo has helped me and this program get to where we are today. I completely humbled by the support you all give and do my best to give it back and help others.
